We enjoyed the hospitality of our friends in Fair Oaks, thanks. This small town has some parallels with that of Astorga in Spain. Both are along the gold route. Located between the hills and the valley, they look out onto snowy peaks.

At the crossroads, the center of Fair Oaks' population, with a stone design marker that looks like Spanish maragato design and the symbol of the city is the oak. The city name can mean Beautiful or Blonde Oaks.

The original population of the area was in one case the Maidu and in the other the Astures, but, with the discovery of gold, others came to populate both areas. Then the settlements came to depend on the forests and then agriculture and the raising of livestock.
Nowdays, modern Maidus also make it during historical reenactments/living history.
