La especie Mule Deer de la familia de los Cérvidos se distribuye por la mitad occidental de Norteamérica. Ha convivido aquí con el ser humano desde hace unos 14.000 años. Su nombre hace referencia a sus grandes orejas como las de un mulo.
The Mule Deer species of the Cervidus family throughout the western half of North America. It's lived here among humans for 14,000 years. It's name makes reference to its large mule-like ears.
The Californian subspecies is the one I've been able to capture on video with my mobile phone while walking along the river on vacation in Sacramento. For a nature lover like myself, this is exciting to see.
Different from Elk, about which you can see in my entry here, Mule Deer are very given to wander in populated and urban zones, making it possible to find them in the garden and yards of your house eating bushes and flowers, crossing the street or resting in the middle of the path where you are talking a walk.
