"Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands
and put my finger into the nailmarks
and put my hand into his side, I will not believe."
Thomas is a rational man who needs to experience things for himself, reason them out and understand them. I really like Thomas. I identify with him.

If we are the image and likeness of God, and we are rational beings, it's good that we use reason to reach truth. Also to accept the Truth, with a capital letter.

"Always be ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks you for a reason for your hope." (1 Pe 3, 15)

There are streams of thought, we know, that maintain incompatibility between faith and reason.  From my experience these stances are not believable nor reasonable. I am convinced that having faith is the most reasonable of choices.

Faith has something more than a cognitive aspect. Faith is the adhesiveness the heart and it's the coherent conduct and consequence of the above.

Thomas is a model of faith: Finally, when he experienced Jesus resurrected, he declared: "My Lord and my God!" (John 20:28.) Then he gave his life for Him.

I have always imagined the scene where Thomas is kneeling, perhaps because it's the posture that so many times appears as the one where one knows and feels himself before the most sacred o before God himself.

Ante mí se doblará toda rodilla To me every knee shall bend (Is 45, 23)
Let us kneel before the LORD our maker! (Sal 95, 6)
Está escrito: "Juro que toda rodilla se doblará ante mí y toda lengua dará gloria a Dios", dice el Señor. for it is written: "As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bend before me, and every tongue shall give praise to God." (Rm 14, 11)
Para que al nombre de Jesússe doble toda rodilla en el cielo, en la tierra y en los abismos, at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth, (Flp 2, 10)
Also sometimes Jesus prayed to the Father kneeling (Lc, 22, 41)
"Then the two recounted what had taken place on the way
and how he was made known to them in the breaking of the bread". (Lc 24, 35)

It's true that Jesus told Thomas: "Have you come to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed."(John 20:29.) The majority of the truths in which we all believe, we believe them without having "seen" nor without our five senses nor rationality. But we believe it because we trust (faith) the testimony of others we trust.
For I handed on to you as of first importance what I also received  (I Cor 15,3)
"To see" for ourselves is a very rare luxury. But, God doesn't reserve happiness for just a few, but rather for all. That is why "happy are those who believe without seeing."
